NEW COLORS
& FINISHES!!!
All of the aluminum products we sell can
either be powder coated with finishes using
the charts below, anodized, or covered with metal cladding. You can
choose a finish from the following industry standard charts, or furnish
us with a color sample to create a custom coated finish unique to your
project. Also available are various different metal
finishes.
What is powder
coating? Powder
Coating is a spray painting process that utilizes a very fine dry plastic
powder paint material. A fine mist of powder paint is shot from a specialized
spray gun. As the powder leaves the front of the spray gun, it is charged
with static electricity which attracts the powder paint to the part
being coated. Once this process is completed, the coated part is then
placed in an oven and baked to 400 degrees for a prescribed amount of
time. The heating process melts the paint powder causing it to flow
in to an attractive durable finish. Powder coating is used in countless
industries for many different applications.
What is anodizing?
Anodizing is an electrochemical
process that forms a protective aluminum-oxide coating many times thicker
than the protective film formed as a by-product of extrusion. The anodized
finish is extremely hard, very durable, and resistant to corrosion and
wear. Anodized surfaces are recommended for high traffic areas such
as doors, entrance ways and storefronts.
What is cladding?
Cladding is sheet metal that is bent to certain specifications
to "clad" or cover another item. Sometimes known as "brake
metal," cladding is typically used to finish surfaces that would
otherwise be too expensive, or impossible to achieve in a particular
finish. Often cladding is powder coated or finished in mirrored or brushed
stainless steel. API does custom break metal or cladding. Call
or email us your specifications for a price quote.
